Heads or Tails - My Job

Some of you might probably know (assuming) that I work in a call center.
My country is competing with India in terms of outsourced customer and IT services.
Clients are mostly international in nature majority which translates to time, place and cultural barriers. Call Center job is well paid compared to other white-collar jobs but the the end of the bargain is getting a life which is not as normal as any skilled worker. Graveyard shift or getting up or getting home in the wee hours of the morning. On duty in every celebrated holiday that you could think of (with premium pay of course).
So basically or generally, this is how a call center dude can be described. Just click on the photo to magnify.Translation:
1. Malayo sa (work) - (lit.) far from/not related to (work)
2. Abubot - gadgets
3. Lamig - cold

Heads or Tails - Peace

I'm taking peace.
Holding up your index and middle fingers makes me think of the cool hippies. The hair, the get up minus the weeds of course. hahaha
We Filipinos always love to show the peace sign in almost every photo op.
It has become a picture staple.
On a serious note,
Humanity has been in constant thirst for peace. Ironically though that one has to kill for the love of peace. But no matter how many tons of blood have been shed, our thirst for peace has has yet to be quenched, as yet. And it appears that we are suffering from polydypsia - excessive thirst.
Okay that's too serious.
I also notice that at the end of almost every rap song, you'll hear Peace!
Oh of course the classic, wishing for "World Peace" trying to channel Miss Congeniality.

Peace out y’all!!!

Heads or Tails - Any Tom, Dick or Harry

I thought of Tom Hanks in the movie Castaway.
At the start the he was cast away until the end of the movie I was sobbing.
On the looney side, who would forget how Tom Cruise jumped up and down the couch on Oprah showing his overflowing joy being with Katie Holmes?
That was just aaargh, I can't think of a word to describe it.

Moving on, I love Harry Potter. It's the only book series and movie installments I was able to follow.
And the Prince of Wales, Prince Harry. He is very involved in propagating children's and people's welfare. The empathy he inherited from the Princess of Wales.
He also took his part in fighting for peace among humanity.
A very unusual act for a Royal blood.

Heads or Tails

This one's very timely because mother's day is on Sunday.
Unlike most of the children we grew up with, we don't have a mom to greet on this special day.
Yeah, we were abandoned when I was in 6th grade.
Although her reasons are a puzzle to me, I never heard my parents fight but anyway I decided not to bother about it.
We lived and we survived without her.
On this special occasion I wish to salute all the mother who stuck with their families despite the adversaries. I mean they chose to stay with their husbands and children not necessarily living with them but keeping in touch checking on them regularly.
I am not an advocate of "till-death-do-us-part" or "i-don't-want my-kids-to-grow-up-in-a-broken-home" reason of not leaving a husband and chose to be miserable.
But I am singling out those mothers who have found happiness in building a family, even as a SAHM or a WAHM or a working mom. Who don't mind getting up in the unholy hours of the morning comforting their children when they are sick. Who sit with their children giving them pep talk asking them for their highs and low in school or work.
I would like to share this song to all the great mom's in the world. This one always gives me chills down to my spine.

Heads or Tails

I want to take both:

Heads: Tip

When you are already late for work and your toddler niece clings to you and doesn't want to be passed on to anyone, try putting the rollers that you just pulled out of your hair to her hair then make her stand in front of the vanity mirror. She'll get fascinated staring at the logs on her thin hair. Then it's your queue to run to the gate without looking back.
This is an effective escape stunt.

Tails: Anything that rhymes with TIP

I think I'm losing my GRIP and getting a little FLIP since we'll have our out of town TRIP over the weekends.
I have not gotten any goodnight sleep and I'm almost always getting a SLIP making me want to WHIP out my pillow in class and in the office if not, I would definitely get a fractured hip.

Heads or Tails - Fool

I owe Barbs a lot. This is my first entry I guess since February.

Anyhoo, today is April Fool's Day and thank goodness no one Punk'd me. But I still had my share of foolishness today.

Tomorrow would be our "Battle of the Brains" game in our department. Apart from making you a complete dork answering a question all by yourself about our product and services, each team is required to present a cheer.

In our country, when a person is getting too intense in doing a thing or things, that person would be told that he's making the thing a CAREER.
Rumor has it that each team made the cheer presentation a CAREER so we don't have a choice but to whip out the cheerleaders in us and bring on the game. In other words, we made FOOL of ourselves in our rehearsal this afternoon. My head is throbbing until now because of the non-stop laughter from FOOLING around.

Tomorrow's gonna be another day. I'm sure we won't be able to manage to laugh when butterflies are already flying in our stomach.

Happy April Fool's

Heads or Tails

I have decided to take the Tails - Anything in or under the water.
Basically, marine life is the first that I could think of apart from remains of sunken ships, gardens and cemeteries (?) such as this:

The Christ of the abyss
As I browsed through the web, I was amazed by this unusual sight (for me at least)
Rajan is a full-grown male elephant. A 57-year-old tusker Asian elephant, Rajan once worked as a laborer in the Andamans’ logging industry. The story is that he was taught to swim by a female companion, who later succumbed to a cobra bite. After a long mourning period in which he refused to swim, Rajan eventually took the plunge again. When logging was banned in the area, Rajan found a nice retirement arrangement at the resort. (Jewels In the Crown)

Heads or Tails

Here are the top THREE in my countdown:

No. 3 - The Trefoil
From the Latin trifolium which means "three-leaved plant", some of the following icons/signs have evolved The traffic light
Making or breaking the (red)light would also make or break someone's life

No. 1 - The legendary..... (drum roll please...)

I enjoyed watching them when I was a kid.

Happy H o T y'all!
