My Little Princess and her fashion emergency

I am ecstatic.

My niece won the first prize in Best in Costume category in ther pre-school's Linggo ng Wika (I don't know how to translate it in English but literally it Language Week - Oh crap, don't shoot me for murdering the transalation!)

Anyhoo, it was a short notice (again) from my sister (love yah sis). Since my niece is kinda big for her age (she's six btw), I asked my petit officemate who rocked a Filipiniana costume in the office a few years ago, if she could lend me the costume. She said  she only got the top.

So I went bargain hunting and my feet brought me to this ukay-ukay (hand-me-down shop) in Cubao. I found a skirt that I think could pass for a native costume.

I whipped out the stylist in me and voila! I was able to  make my niece rock a Filipiniana ensemble with a twist.

I am yet to post some proof.

Got plastic?

I have mentioned many times here that I am maintaining only one credit card. That card is BPI. What I love about BPI credit card is they are old school. Another cool thing with this product is that they will not charge with penalty for being unable to pay on the due date so long as your next cut off is not generated yet.

Oh, and I was able to redeem my rewards points for an A4 internet Dolby headset which was delivered to me in 3 days!

Okay so much for the rear licking. This is not a paid post anyway.

Here's the deal. I use (but rarely) the card for groceries.

I had a list of toiletries so during my one-hour break I went to the grocery near our office. I even grabbed my favorite Cornetto ice cream. Just when the cashier was swiping the card she got an error prompt advising the holder to contact card provider. I felt clammy. I am sure that I still have funds in it because I just settled my bill.

I called 89-100. Just as soon as I pressed 2 (credit card option) I was greeted by a prompt that "All BPI credit card transactions are not available at the moment...blah blah".

So I got back to the cashier and relayed the matter. I just had with me some coins. I told them that I just have to be back in my 15-minute break to get my toiletries and my Cornetto.

When I got to my post. I called BPI again and it took me 40 minutes to get hold of a phonebanker. This is one bad thing I don't like about BPI.  Getting through their hotline will get you old and bearded on the phone.

Anyhoo, the phonebanker told me that system is down since late afternoon. I snapped back and told her that when they have promos, it's easy for them to send SMS how come that they did not send such a notice about this shameful event (yeah, there were people lined behind me in the grocery). Hell I knew what she were thinking: I also ask that myself. (Haha). Nah, I was not really mad. It's the first time it happened although it's a shameful one. I asked if they had an udate when can we use the plastic, she said around six. Then I said to her if it's not too much to ask, if she asks someone to SMS me as soon as the tweaking is over. She committed.

I was so pleased that I got 2 calls from them in less than an one hour. First, the phonebanker informed me that I could request for manual charging from the store (the old swiping thing) and the second was for the notice that card network is now online.

So I swung by the grocery and guess what? They have kept my toiletries in a bag. So they just scanned each item and swiped my card.

I asked them if there were other customers who have had the same dilemma. They said yes but I was the first one to get punk'd. But there was this one lady who went mental and hysterical.

Is it a card holder's right of passage?

Thank goodness my lorazepam was still kicking then. haha

Holiday and restday

I woke up at ten and went straight to the shower. My usual practice.

But since my "body shots" was over, I tried to play it down a bit. Usually, I just grab the coffee from the brewer pour it in my thermos and consume it wherever I was headed to.

Late last week, I have been practicing sitting at the breakfast table enjoying my cereals and my Benguet coffee.

Same routine this morning.

It's a holiday today. Geez, I don't know what exactly we're observing because our commander-in-chief loves shuffling holidays to have very long weekends to promote local tourism. Well and good for those living the normal 9-to-5 life.

Oh well anyhoo, my niece was scanning all the channels on cable and when she passed by Disney, I said: Oh Camp Rock with my not so callcenter-ish accent. Then she said in a correcting manner: Kahmp...Kehmp!

Kids, how can they be so annoyingly cute? Haha

I wish I had stayed home since it's my restday. Yeah, it's my restday and it's a holiday.  It's so unfair when people at the office got a 5-day work week and one day of it is paid premium while I was among those who also got a 5-day work week but won't get any premium pay because one of my restdays fell on a holiday.

Anyhoo again, I decided to render a 4-hour over time so I could still get a premium pay. One financial advice that I am trying to live up to is that if I want something like new clothes, shoes or a salon treatment, I have to work extra or get a sideline job and spare my salary.

So there!

For what it is worth, I've got myself some "loots" to try on plus I had mani and pedi.

The life!

Ain't over 'til it's over?

I'm back!

Hopefully it's for good.

I'm praying it's for good and I have faith that it is for good.

I have tried my best to get what I want and to get what I think I need.

I miss writing and pouring my mind in this space I call mine.

To those who know me personally and get offended or just got hit by my scribblings. I won't apologize for the way I chose to displace my rants and raves. This is my blog, my personal space. I chose to channel my emotions here and not to blab around.

If you think your nerve will be hit, you are welcome not to read.

Okay I am just being paranoid.

Ha ha

I miss y'all my virtual friends.

While I am still containing myself in a lemon laptop and waiting for its replacement who knows when it will come, I got to check out this coolest back to school deal.

I can't help but drool over the Charter Laptop A Day Giveaway where they will give one HP Compaq Presario C770US Laptops everyday for 30 days!

Ask me how you could get one? It's so easy man, you just have to order one or more Charter services online and you will be automatically entered into the coolest promo. Another cool thing is each order online will entitle the customer with a FREE Shell gas gift card!

So since I can no longer drain my pocket for a good performing notebook, I think I need to talk my sister into getting a Charter service. I'm feeling that I could be one of those lucky souls who could get that laptop.

So which plan should I choose among these?

- Charter High-Speed Internet at $19.99/mo for 6 months

- Charter Digital Home and High-Speed Internet at $69.98/mo for 6 months

- Charter Digital Home, High-Speed Internet, and Charter Telephone at $99.97/mo. for 12 months.

I must start convincing her because the first winner will be proclaimed (wohoo!) on September 1!

This is really cool,  a brand new laptop plus a high-speed internet service.

Okay, how many times did I say cool here?

Ha ha

Great deals, great life!

While I may not be a moviehouse type of a person, I love watching movies on DVD. For the simple reason that I feel more comfortable lounging around my little space hitting the pause button when I need to go to the bathroom or hit the kitchen and even rewind the tape when I missed out on something. So now that my hiatus is so over, I am planning to go on DVD marathons of the movies and series that I missed since I hibernated.

One of the movies that I enjoyed watching over and over is Little Miss Sunshine which copy I just borrowed from my officemate. I love light dramas. While checking on great DVD and music deals online, I got to discover the ultimate UK - Books, DVDs and CDs online resource. Guess what, Little Miss Sunshine is one sale here at a whopping 60% discount!

This site is so cool because when almost all the price of things go up they have marked down almost all their

Now that I am in my laidback mode for a month I can also fill my shopping card with Non-fiction Book and music CDs and check out immediately without ruining my budget.

Knock ups, anyone?

A couple (or more) of years ago, I was addicted to The OC. The storyline was not that good but what I enjoyed is looking how the female protagonists dressed up. Since The OC is so last week, I am starting to get addicted to Gossip Girl. Besides the fact that it has the same creator, they girls (and gals) there love to dress up while strutting on the Hamptons.

I love the way they mix up their ensembles and it inspires me to do some mixing and matching with my clothes. Of course, I could not afford the brands they are putting on so I am trying to look for the knock-ups in the internet. I always believe that one can look fabulous without spending a fortune.

With the whole lot of online shopping stores nowadays, options on quality and affordability are standing high on top of the fashion pyramid.
