Making not just a history

I have watched the live coverage of Will and Kate’s wedding yesterday and I must tell you that my feeling of excitement intensifies as I watch replays and wrap up coverages. I am gushing looking at them and sensing the love they have for one another.
An episode of The Insider made an effort of decoding the soundless mumbles of Princes William and Harry. As Prince Harry tried to look back while Kate is making her procession, they labelled his utterance to Prince Will with “wait ‘til you see her” and the moment Kate has settled her position at the altar, Will mumbled to Kate: You look beautiful. And to her Dad: I thought this will just be a simple family affair.
The preparation was really intense that the wedding is so perfect. Almost actually, as I jerked looking at the Prince trying to squeeze Kate’s finger to get on the wedding ring.
What a better way to cap the wedding day off is not one but two kisses. There was no third kiss as he said: that’s it no more. I really feel them giddy with excitement.
Long live the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

The holter monitor

The holter monitoring is one of the tests cardiologists order to monitor the patient’s heart in relation to chest pain onset. This allows for the doctor to monitor through the printed report the heart’s rhythm and find out any irregularity.
A holter monitor is a machine that continuously records the heart's rhythms. The monitor is usually worn for 24 - 48 hours during normal activity. While you wear the monitor, it records your heart's electrical activity. You should keep a diary of what activities you do while wearing the monitor. After 24 - 48 hours, you return the monitor to your doctor's office. The doctor will look at the records and see if there have been any irregular heart rhythms.
It is very important that you accurately record your symptoms and activities so that the doctor can match them with your Holter monitor findings. (soruce medline plus)
It is like an EKG worn 24 hours.

A sweet treat

My former patient who flew in from the US has dropped something for me in the hospital. It was a small box of Swiss chocolates. I remembered him telling before he got discharged that he will be heading for Malaysia then straight to Switzerland for business.
He has been bragging about this special sweets that he purchased personally from the store indicated on the tin can. It called Confiserie Sprungli from Zurich.
The presentation was very dainty that it was hard for me to lift a finger and sink my teeth in any of them.
Well whether or not he got it straight from the store. Chocolates are chocolates and besides, it’s the thought the counts. But I must admit, nothing beats the Swiss chocolates. They acutally melt in your mouth and they are not too sweet at all!

Shakey’s delivery…they’re late and yet again it’s free!

I volunteered to call the Shakey’s hotline to order pizza for delivery for our meeting.

I ordered two party size pizzas aand since I have the Pizzanatic card, I was entitled to two free party size pizzas (choice of pepperoni or Hawaiian).

And we synchronized our time. It was 11:08 am and again before I hung up, the operator on the other line reminded me that if it’s late it is free.

It was already 11:55 on our clock and the 45-minute marker is already over.

Then I got a call from the concerned branch who’ll deliver the pizza that the pizza was ruined during baking and the person on the other line was making excuses that their time is 10 minutes late from the synced time we had.

What they’re selling I did ont buy. For one, even if they’re clock is ten minutes behind, basic mathematics shows that they did not hit the 45-minute deadline.

Another call was made by the branch’s supervisor and she was also making excuses saying that they still have 7 minutes on their clock and the delivery crew has been dispatched. I told her I am not caving in to her excuses and we hang up.

The seven minutes has past and not even a shadow of the delivery man has showed up. A few minutes more he came in panting emphasizing that he’s not late. Again, I stood my ground.

It was not my fault if they will be paying P2200 worth of delivery. It’s their slogan and they should live up to it.

In fulfillment of my craving

Last Saturday after our duty, I asked my friend in the ward, Lai to go with me for a breakfast. I was actually planning on treating her to a breakfast at Pancake House which is just at the back of our hospital. Actually, in my numerous dining experiences at this resto, I never tried their pancakes. Simply because I usually eat there during lunch or dinner time and I think pancake is a bit off during these meal times.

Since it was still breakfast period when we punched out, I talked her into filling our tummies there.

I was really imagining myself digging into layers of pancakes and my bubble was burst instantly reading the announcement on the shop’s door that it is closed for that day in observance of the holiday that Saturday. I actually lost track of day due to my unusual sked at work.

We decided to head for Mc Donald’s but we did not settle for pancakes.

I was kind of frustrated.

The following day, right after my 6-month exam in the ward, I decided to indulge…at Pancake house. Since I have fasted for more than twelve hours, I thought I had a monstrous appetite so I ordered the Seafood Gambero and my old time fave that is the two-piece chicken combo.

After 15 minutes of waiting, which is pretty annoying because it was humid outside and the temperature in the resto was no different because the a/c was busted, my orders were served.

Seafood Gambero is a tomato-based pasta dish. Fettuccine noodles smothered with shrimps, mussels and quid sautéed in rich tomato sauce topped with parmesan cheese. The sourness of the sauce is just right and I was really pleased by the taste and presentation. It served as my appetizer.

The main entree was the chicken which I find frustrating. The chicken was oily and not juicy. The side macaroni salad dish was salty and soggy. The dish was cooked not in the usual appetizing way. I was really frustrated by this particular dish.
